The following article explains the end user instructions in Lucidity Induction. It also explains SCORM and HTML5 presentations, PDF files and converting PowerPoint to SCORM.
1. End user instructions
Video: Instructions Overview
It is highly recommended that the final screen in any resource includes instructions to direct the user back into the Lucidity system where they will need to complete the assessment (where relevant) and complete the declaration. The course will not be marked complete until the declaration has been submitted. An example of how this may look is shown below.
2. PDF files
PDF files can be be uploaded as a resource to an Induction module. A PPT can be converted to a PDF and then uploaded this way. When completing the course, the PDF will be displayed to the end user within the browser with navigation tools displayed at the top of the screen. The user is forced to view every page within the PDF before being marked as complete. In order for this functionality to take effect, the 'Display in Popover' option must be selected.
3. SCORM and HTML5 Presentations
3.1. SCORM
SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is a set of standards for web-based educational technology that enhances the functionality of learning management systems like Lucidity Induction.
The key advantage of SCORM presentations is their tracking capability. Unlike standard file formats, SCORM allows Lucidity to monitor user progress, ensuring that modules are only marked complete when all content has been viewed. This feature also enables users to bookmark their progress and resume where they left off.
To create SCORM content, use specialised software with these settings:
- Target platform: LMS
- Format: HTML5 or SCORM 1.2
- Output file type: .zip
Uploading SCORM content to Lucidity is simple: just add the .zip file as a resource to your chosen module. Lucidity will automatically unpack and structure the presentation.
By using SCORM, you can create more engaging and accountable learning experiences in Lucidity Induction, ensuring effective completion of training materials.
3.2. Resource format and size
File size and type significantly impact the user's learning experience. Follow these guidelines for optimal performance:
- Videos: <30MB, bit rate 250-350 Kb/sec for wide compatibility
- PowerPoints: <10MB
- Authoring tool outputs (pdf, ppt, pps, swf): <200MB
- Zip folders: <100MB
Always consult your IT department to ensure compatibility with network and firewall settings. Some formats may be blocked or require additional browser plugins, potentially causing security or accessibility issues.
By adhering to these guidelines, you can ensure smooth content delivery and an improved learning experience for all users.
This version retains the essential information about file size limits and IT considerations while significantly reducing the word count and improving readability.
4. Converting PowerPoint to SCORM
Lucidity Software does not offer an eLearning development service. There are many providers that can do this. Alternatively, internal development of eLearning can be done by purchasing eLearn authoring software such as Articulate or Captivate. These are the market leaders in full eLearning authoring tools, have a large learning curve and are expensive. They allow for the creation of interactive eLearning and content is only limited by the author's imagination. For those looking to convert a simple PowerPoint to a SCORM file, there are several simple tools available such as iSpring (download add-on to PowerPoint) or ScormHero (online tool). Use the below links for details on how to prepare and export a presentation using ScormHero, Articulate, Captivate or iSpring:
Lucidity can assist with the conversion of resources to SCORM files for a small charge if required.
5. iSpring
- Install iSpring and open PowerPoint.
- Open your presentation.
- Check animations and transitions.
- Optional: Add narration or audio.
- Set slide timing if desired.
- Publish to .zip.
- Upload .zip to Lucidity Induction.

6. Google slides presentations
Google Slides can be used to generate eLearning content which can then be accessed through Lucidity Induction by using the "Publish to the Web" option under the File menu. This function will provide a publicly accessible share link which can then be uploaded as a resource link in Lucidity Induction.
